Electric vehicle chargepoint grant for residential landlords
Apply
Before you apply, you must:
- complete any necessary upgrades to the building’s electrical supply
- arrange regular maintenance checks of the chargepoints
- decide how the electricity and running costs will be paid
- make sure the chargepoints are accessible
- update your property’s risk assessment to include the chargepoints
- be ready to act on the risk assessment and put in place and maintain appropriate fire safety measures
You can apply for multiple sockets at the same address. If you’re using more than one installer or applying for more than one address, submit a separate application for each one.
How to apply

Contact an installer approved by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) to get a quote for the work.

Agree with your installer what work will be carried out before you apply for a grant.

Choose a chargepoint model from the list of eligible chargepoints.

Complete the online application.
Documents you’ll need
You must provide additional evidence as part of your application. These documents must be in the name of the organisation or business applying for a grant. You’ll need:
- a quote from your installer for the installation of your chargepoint
- the title register from HM Land Registry showing you’re the freeholder (if you’re a freeholder for a multi-unit property)
- a dated copy of your current insurance policy, showing the address and confirming the property is a rental property (if you’re a private landlord or charity letting a property)
If you’re applying on behalf of a right to manage (RTM) company or residents’ management company (RMC), you must provide:
- evidence that you’re listed on Companies House
- a document verifying your position - for example, RTM or RMC minutes of your appointment
If you’re a property management company applying on behalf of a landlord, you must provide:
- your letter of appointment or agreement with the landlord to manage the property
- the required evidence for the type of landlord you represent
