Hazard
The doorsets were marketed, labelled and/or listed on a declaration of performance as being suitable for external use (EN 14351-1), and also marketed and/or labelled as providing fire resistance characteristics. However, they had not been manufactured and conformity marked in accordance with the required level of independent oversight and testing for use as external doorsets claiming fire performance (under the harmonised standard EN 16034:2014). This means that these doorsets do not meet the regulatory requirements to declare fire resistance characteristics for use in an external location.
The products do not meet the requirements of Regulation 305/2011.
Corrective action
The Office for Product Safety and Standards has required all companies trading as Metador to inform the supply chain, distributors and final consumers (where known) of the risks posed by this product.
The potential impact of being unable to guarantee the performance of a product in relation to fire resistance and building safety will vary on a project-by-project basis and will depend on factors unique to each building. Building owners should seek advice from their building safety officer, an independent inspector, fire safety officer or a relevant building control authority, as appropriate, and consider reviewing the building’s fire strategy if necessary.
