This report and its contents are independent from government and do not represent government policy.

In October of 2025, the Ministry of Justice commissioned Hook Tangaza - an independent, specialist advisory firm that focuses on the legal sector - to produce a report analysing the economic value of English law.

The report seeks to:

  • demonstrate the value English law delivers to the UK economy and to global commerce
  • highlight the features that make English law influential and internationally attractive
  • identify key risks and opportunities for future growth

It also sets out the authors’ independent recommendations for government and industry on how best to maintain and strengthen the global role of English law.
