Details

The Groceries Code Adjudicator Act 2013 requires the government to review the performance and effectiveness of the GCA.

This fourth review covers the period since the last review of the GCA and examines wider developments in the food supply chain and the GCA’s relationship with Defra’s Agricultural Supply Chain Adjudicator (ASCA).

The review was informed by:

  • a public consultation
  • evidence from the GCA’s annual reports
  • the evidence from the GCA’s annual YouGov survey of suppliers held during the review period
  • Parliamentary debates and the 2025 Environment Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Select Committee’s inquiry into fairness in the food supply chain
